Here in Colorado, in the winter time especially, the dry air will absolutely desiccate your skin. I am so parched, my knuckles crack and bleed, and I have rough, dry patches all over. I formulated this product for moisturizing, healing, and protecting even the driest, most sensitive skin. This shea butter is not grainy or weird in texture like other shea butters can be. It is melted very slowly, cooled very slowly, and whipped for about an hour. It is a fluffy, yet firm formula, the consistency of cold whipped butter. It will melt on your skin instantly and slowly soak in to give a very soft, but non-greasy feel. A little goes a long way with this formula, since your skin can only absorb so much at once. I have found it to be a very nice massage balm for this reason – if you use more than you would for normal moisturizing, it has a nice slick glide. I also like it for massage because it is a solid, and doesn’t run between my fingers all over the sheets! You will receive a 4 ounce frosted jar (filled by volume, not weight) – plenty to last you for a long, long time.
Because this formula is 100% oils, and is not made with water or water-based fillers, there is no need for a preservative. When shopping for lotions and shea butters, please check the ingredients. Most have just a small amount of shea butter, and a lot of other cheap ingredients. My shea butter is almost all shea butter, with just enough soft oils to make it nice and creamy. This formula is all natural, left unscented, and contains no petroleum products, parabens or other preservatives, or any other kind of yucky chemicals. This is a special edition formula, a little experiment actually. I’ve created it from half and half refined and unrefined raw and organic shea butter – which means it retains the healing properties of the raw shea nut oil, while maintaining a neutral odor. Many shea butters are overly processed, and the therapeutic compounds are destroyed as a result. You will know the difference right away. I am loving it!
In Africa, Shea Butter is considered the number one most important product to keep in your personal apothecary, for healing everything that ails the skin. Shea butter production is mostly a women’s industry, so purchasing it supports small businesses in an important way.
Please note, In extreme temperatures, the mousse can lose its fluffiness. We want to make sure it gets to you as fast as possible, so during the warmer months, we will ship priority on Mondays only, and pack with reusable freezer packs. This does increase the shipping cost some, but please know we do not like to make money on shipping. If your order comes to a higher shipping total than the actual cost of shipping and packaging, we will refund your overpayment. If you are worried about the possibility that your mail might be unattended in a hot mailbox for an extended time, however, we recommend purchasing during the winter only. You can stock up and keep it in your refrigerator until you are ready to use it.
